Maya and her dad live in two different countries. As a way to remain close to her daughter and continue to tell her bedtime stories, her dad asks her every night: “Maya, give me a title.”
From each title, he imagines and creates a unique cartoon in which Maya is the heroine. Through these animated adventures, Michel Gondry brings to life a poetic and fun journey that will make children dream…and grown-ups smile.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Michel Gondry, Maya, Give Me a Title is a playful and imaginative animated comedy. Created using hand-made paper cut-out animation, stop motion and live action, the film brings together a series of inventive stories inspired by ideas from Gondry’s daughter, Maya.
Living far apart, father and daughter stay connected through creativity as Maya suggests story prompts which Gondry transforms into colourful miniature adventures using paper, scissors, and tape. The result is a charming and deeply personal film celebrating imagination, storytelling and the bond between parent and child.
The film premiered in France in 2024 and went on to win the Crystal Bear for Best Film in the Generation Kplus section at the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival.

“I saw this film with an audience of school children, with Michel Gondry in attendance at the Berlin Film Festival. It was brilliant to see how engaged the young people were, to hear their wonderful questions to Michel and how the film had inspired them. We really wanted to screen this film to our audiences but it didn’t have UK distribution, so we have done this! As an organisation Screen Argyll is passionate about sharing quality films for young audiences and creating opportunities for them to see films from around the world. Michel Gondry is a master of European cinema and it is vital that audiences in the UK can see his work.”
